Identifying and Managing STIs Online

There are a broad range of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) sometimes called sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) and every one of them are handled in distinct ways, so it is crucial to see which infection you could have.  A Few of the more frequently seen STI’s include HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
Some STIs in fact exhibit no signs, which sometimes lead people to believe they do not have an infection (called asymptomatic). Even if someone does not have symptoms, they can still spread the STD to their partner. Alternatively, a few STIs can sometimes be incredibly uncomfortable. Men and women get the same sexually transmitted infections but can result in vastly different symptoms in men and women.

How does this work?

You can make an appointment with Marian Stokes, NP, who will perform a thorough evaluation and advice you regarding STD testing.  If indicated, she will set up testing at a lab located close to you.  After testing, Marian can advise you further about your sexually transmitted disease (if any are confirmed) and related issues. Marian can provide more information about STD’s and answer any questions you may have.  Most sexually transmitted diseases require an in-person examination by your PCP.  If you do not have a PCP our healthcare provider will help you find a local one.  Due to legal regulations, we are not able to treat acute sexually transmitted diseases in men or women, but we can give recommendations for the subsequent step(s) in the treatment process.
